Barbara Fritchie House

154 W Patrick St
Frederick, MD 21701
(301) 698-0630

Description:

Civil War patriot Barbara Fritchie became famous for, at the age of 95, waving a Union flag out her window in the face of flying bullets from Stonewall Jackson's advancing troops. Despite the fact this incident never actually happened, Fritchie's legacy continues, and her lovely 19th-century house has been converted into a museum with period furnishings, textiles, and other artifacts. The Barbara Fritchie House lies in the heart of town, near the east end of Baker Park.
