The Historical Society of Frederick County preserves and interprets local history through ownership and maintenance of a library, museum, bookstore, and important properties like the Taney House. The museum is an excellent launching point, showcasing a vibrant collection of regional artifacts and decorative art works dating back to the Colonial era; the accumulation of tall case clocks is especially impressive. The Society lies downtown, just east of Baker Park.
